Umaa have been appointed to carry out the technical design (RIBA Stage 4) for this residential development of 47 new build houses on a site which lies to the Southwest of Longsdale Lane, Ravenshead.
The site is located on the edge of the existing village and is lined by existing trees and hedges, with protected woodland to the South and a steep change in level across the site. The approved scheme proposed a high specification development with a wide mix of house type varying from bespoke 2-bed bungalows to 5-bed family homes, with a varied materials palette and mix of character styles.
With planning already secured for a highly bespoke development, the major challenge for Umaa was to carefully detail and tailor this complex project to enable efficient delivery on site and achieve the right balance to make the project a reality with minimal post planning changes. This required a mix of technical design skills and commercial acumen in order to deliver a high quality and bespoke project during a time of materials shortages and increasing construction costs.
The development began on site at the end of 2022 and will be completed in Spring 2024.
Following commencement of the project, Umaa were appointed to design a second phase of development for an adjoining parcel of land, with planning approval expected in Autumn 2023.
